So you've met Chris, our cheeky Irish chappy, now it's time to say hello to Jess, our other singer.
Hi Jess! Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Originally a country bumpkin (Wiltshire), I studied music and performing at Paul McCartney's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. After graduating, I worked as a singer on cruise ships, did a number of national tours and shows and then eventually moved to the big smoke nearly 4 years ago. I absolutely LOVE the city life! There's always something exciting going on and the musical opportunities are amazing! I live with my boyfriend, who is also a musician and our adopted pet cat, Soot.
What was the first record you ever bought?
As with most tweenagers, my taste in music was a little less...sophisticated than it is now! I distinctly remember going to a Woolworths (RIP!) and buying Mambo Number 5 by Lou Bega (I loved it because it had my name in it!) and The Witch Doctor by The Cartoons. Absolutely awful! I am ashamed to say that they are both still in my old room at my parents' house, as I wouldn't let my Mum throw away my CD's when I moved out. I mean, maybe they'll be worth something in the future??? Nah...probably not!
What's the best gig you've ever been to?
I was lucky enough to see Joss Stone perform a really small, intimate gig at a venue called The Picket in Liverpool. There was only about 250 people there and she was SENSATIONAL. Well, her whole band were. The musicality and talent just absolutely blew my mind. I will never forget that feeling of being utterly awe-struck as long as I live!
If you could attend any concert of any artist, dead or alive, who would it be?
Michael Jackson. Without a doubt.
Any musical guilty secrets?
Celine Dion. I LOVE HER! What a voice! It will forever remind me of me and my school friend belting out 'The Power of Love' at the top of our voices in her Mum's kitchen. Much to the annoyance of her neighbours, I'm sure!
What's your favourite song in The Magic Tones repertoire to sing?
Definitely 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' (who doesn't love a bit of Whitney?!) or 'Uptown Funk.'
If you weren't a singer, what would you be?
What do you like doing in your spare time?
I'm a sucker for a West End show and try and go as much as I can. I also love yoga and running (I'm doing my second half marathon next month! Eeeeek!) and of course, going to the pub with friends!
